The Republican Divide

(I'm catching up by posting things I have written elsewhere.

Paul Waldman has a cogent thoughtful piece in today's The American Prospect discussing the Republican candidate split between the social conservatives and the pro-business types or, as he calls them, The Plutocrats v.The Theocrats. He concludes that while Mr. Bush in some peculiar way (my phrasing) was able to serve as a representative of both camps, today's crop of candidates seems to harbor no such unifying candidate. Have a look.
