Poker

Update below.

Apparently a childhood in Hawaii, Kansas, and Indonesia leaves a young boy devoid of poker-playing experience.  I had a glimmer of hope that after the election some of his advisers would explain how LBJ got things done and he would get a clue.

Yes, I'm a cockeyed optimist.

So he met the Republicans who were stomping their little feet and shouting that if they didn't get every single thing they wanted, they'd burn the house down.  And he couldn't manage to say "Ok, burn the house down" then go on television and explain how they were out back lighting matches.  Instead he said "No, no, I'll give you what you want.  Don't burn the house down.  And have a cookie."

If you don't understand this concept perhaps you need to read "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie."

I think I'll support Bernie Sanders for president in 2012.  At least he has a spine.

Update 12/7/10, evening:  Bernie Sanders just held a press conference with about 2,000.   Here is an early set of notes.

Think Bernie will filibuster or put a hold on this tax thingy? No D ever seems to do this when Rs are winning the day. I don't get it. Never did.

And now the Ds want to give up the filibuster, to "fix the Senate", to return to majority (not 60-vote) rule, just as they no longer have a majority. Talk about tactical brilliance!
