OK, I Give Up On Obama
In fact I loathe him. He thinks the solution to dying of cancer because you can't afford treatment is a hug.
Just like he thinks that the solution to discriminating against gay folks is to invite them in and tell them how he can relate. He's worse that that damn Bill Clinton because he seems sincere.

Texas Might Secede?
In case you missed it, Texas Governor Goodhair (I so miss Molly Ivins)
How do we get them to do it? Think of all of the benefits. They can worry about their own borders. And the textbooks! Basically they decide how to censor the textbooks that the rest of the country uses because they are such a large market. Suppose the major buyer became California or New York?
I'd feel badly about Austin but not badly enough to continue to pretend that the rest of the place is worth keeping. Go Texas, Go!!
An animated Perry told the crowd at Austin City Hall — one of three tea parties he was attending across the state — that officials in Washington have abandoned the country's founding principles of limited government. He said the federal government is strangling Americans with taxation, spending and debt.
Later, answering news reporters' questions, Perry suggested Texans might at some point get so fed up they would want to secede from the union, though he said he sees no reason why Texas should do that.
"There's a lot of different scenarios," Perry said. "We've got a great union. There's absolutely no reason to dissolve it. But if Washington continues to thumb their nose at the American people, you know, who knows what might come out of that. But Texas is a very unique place, and we're a pretty independent lot to boot."

I Can't Stand Much More Of The Bushies
The bone-headed idealogues in this administration continue to do dumb crap. They cut off funding for condoms beause they argue that the distributor supports abortions elsewhere. And the result will be more abortions.
I really don't know whether they are just dumber than crap or if they are just all political and don't care what the results are as long as they can say they are anti-abortion. But, as usual, they make me sick. Real people's lives are affected and they just don't care.
The US government is cutting its funding for the supply of contraceptives to family planning clinics run by Marie Stopes International in Africa, alleging that it condones forced abortions in China.
MSI has categorically denied that it supports forced abortions or coercive sterilisation in China or anywhere else in the world, and says that the actions of the Bush government will result in more abortions in Africa, as women will be unable to get contraceptives and will end up with unwanted pregnancies.
One of George Bush's first acts after becoming president was to stop all US funds to foreign organisations that helped women in any way to get an abortion, including providing advice. The UN Population Fund (UNFPA) lost $34m that Congress had appropriated for it in 2002.
...
MSI says the USAID edict will seriously hamper its work in at least six African countries - Ghana, Malawi, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe. USAID is the biggest supplier of contraceptives in many African countries.
According to MSI, the inevitable consequence will be more abortions. It estimates that it will lose $1.5m worth of supplies in the next year, resulting in 325,000 extra unwanted pregnancies in the six African countries and 65,000 abortions.

McCain's Medical Records
As for the actual records, the ones that were promised in March which was then moved to April without explanation then to May ... well they weren't released at all. What he did was invite (1)400 (2)personally selected reporters (3)into a room for (4)three hours to peruse records between (5)2000 and 2008. They weren't allowed to (6)photocopy anything but could take notes. Oh and there were 1100+ pages to peruse during those three hours. His (7)psychiatric records were not included.
Ok, we have delay, seven major restrictions, the Friday before the Memorial Day weekend and the absence of anything about his mental condition. And the two newspapers allowed to participate were the Washington Post and Arizona Republic. Two. Just two.
The result? All over the teevee folks are telling us that he got a clean bill of health. HOW CAN THEY TELL? And why isn't the media screaming bloody murder about this management of the news? Honestly didn't they learn squat about doing their jobs over the past decade? Don't they wonder what he's hiding? I sure do.
I don't want to hear any more crap about his "clean bill of health" until the records are complete and public. Sheesh.

Obscenity of the Day
Marc Ambinder has more.
Yes that is John McCain on the balcony where Martin Luther King was shot at the Lorraine Motel 40 years ago. The same John McCain who voted against a federal holiday honoring the same Dr. King.
But Senator McCain is sorry now. He said so today. On that balcony.

Stunning Campaign Incompetence
Astonishing! I basically assume if you become a credible candidate for President you must have achieved a minimal level of competence but apparently I was wrong. All that nonsense she is trying to throw against the wall about words don't matter just comes across as wrongheaded and desperate. The silly plagarism charge is clearly a desperate distraction. But I can excuse that stuff based on desperation. The following, though, is just boneheaded incompetence.
Clinton campaign operatives tell Politico that
But it gets better ....
They couldn't manage to file a slate of delegates in Pennsylvania.
Better yet ...
Even though everybody in western civilization knows that Texas is a "must win" state, Senator Clinton's staff didn't understand how the primary/caucus system works until recently.
Seriously, if they can't figure out the rules, how can they run the country?
Clinton campaign operatives tell Politico that
Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign intends to go after delegates whom Barack Obama has already won in the caucuses and primaries if she needs them to win the nomination. Why in the bloody blue blazes would you announce that? Seriously? One has nothing to gain and everything to lose.
But it gets better ....
They couldn't manage to file a slate of delegates in Pennsylvania.
Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign failed to file a full slate of convention delegate candidates for Pennsylvania's April 22 primary... It appears Clinton came up 10 or 11 candidates short across a number of congressional districts, including two in Philadelphia. That's close to 10 percent of the 103 delegates to be decided by voters. It appears the shortage would've been double that if Rendell hadn't extended last week's candidate filing deadline by a day and a half, ostensibly due to bad weather.
Better yet ...
Even though everybody in western civilization knows that Texas is a "must win" state, Senator Clinton's staff didn't understand how the primary/caucus system works until recently.
Several top Clinton strategists and fundraisers became alarmed after learning of the state's unusual provisions during a closed-door strategy meeting this month, according to one person who attended. This, in spite of the fact that the rules are easily available.
Seriously, if they can't figure out the rules, how can they run the country?

Candidate, Don't Annoy Me

For those of you who need to be reminded, I live in the State of Maryland. There will be a primary in my state next Tuesday. Last evening I received four phone calls from Hillary Clinton. I know they were from Hillary Clinton because the Caller ID said "Hillary Clinton" bigger than life. Caller ID wouldn't lie, would it?
I don't actually hold this against her or her campaign. I hold it against the folks who decided that the Do Not Call list wouldn't include folks trying to sell political candidates. They really should fix that before everybody is driven to get rid of their land line.
But -- you knew a but was coming, didn't you? -- what I do hold against her is the lack of competence her campaign demonstrated today. I mean, if you are going to be ready to run the country on day one, shouldn't you demonstrate some basic skills? Like geography? I returned home from my day and found a message on my answering machine encouraging me to vote in Virginia. More than that, I was encouraged to attend a Clinton rally at Washington-Lee High school. Um, that high school is in ANOTHER STATE!
I am undecided. Please please please don't push me toward your opponent by annoying the hell out of me.

Hillary Jumps The Shark
Seriously, all soft Hillary? Hillary tears up. Real or not?
If you haven't seen it, hard to imagine, watch it here. My comments after the film.
It's total bullshit. You can watch her work up to it. She gets all soft and fakeweepy while she is copying the EXACT SAME WORDS about it being personal and not political that John Edwards used in the debate on Saturday.
That's it. I wash my hands of her.
