The Domestic Agenda
The war is truly over. Sunday's New York Times contains an editorial entitled "The War at Home" that presents a scathing indictment of Mr. Bush's domestic record. They address not only his vision but his strategic approach.

One observation is key. "he president makes a good political general. One of his canniest strategies has been to raise the bar so high that even the smallest of compromises seems like moderation." He behaves this way on the international scene as well. Their overall conclusion: "on the domestic front, almost every success cripples the nation's ability to move toward a happy, prosperous future."

I hope that the blind adoration of the administration that we have seen in the build up to and execution of the recent invasion of Iraq can now end and that others are able to turn a clear eye toward Mr. Bush's domestic policies before he does so much damage that it will take decades to extricate ourselves.
